Usually, the Chavannes area of Les Gets opens at this time of the year for weekends with the full opening taking place mid-June. However, conditions have forced the lift company in Les Gets to alter their plans. Due to the incredible amount of snow that fell throughout the Portes Du Soleil throughout last winter, there is still too much snow on the slopes of the Chavannes meaning that it will not be possible to open this area just yet. Therefore, the decision has been made that the show must go on and now the Mt Chery lift and the trails on that side of the resort will be opening instead.
The Mt Chery Gondola will be open from 09:00 to 17:30 on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th. The area will then be open the following two weekends - the 2nd and 3rd of June and the 9th and 10th of June before opening full time from the 16th of June to the 2nd of September. Passes are €18 for the day, and season passes will be valid.
More of the Les Gets bike park could open during this period and, at the moment, the shapers are working to get the tracks ready and clear the snow. However, tracks are not in a suitable condition to ride and there is still too much snow both on the tracks and around the pistes, meaning that they aren’t safe and there is not adequate access for safety teams and medical staff should an accident occur.
The tracks that will be open on Mt Chery are Les Biquettes (DH green), Dans L’Gaz (DH Black), Gets Airline (DH Black), Les Clarines (XC Blue) and Les Alpages (XC blue).
