Thanks to Stew Monk from Reelfun Media for this edit of the Shreddie Feature Jam and another great day in the Stash.
The first of the ski areas in the Portes du Soleil opened up today!! Avoriaz had much better snow than I was expecting and features in both Baby and Arare park.
After a heavy snowfall on Tuesday night we had a late season powder day this week and if the snow keeps coming, as it is predicted to do, then we may have more powder days ahead this weekend.
This weekend saw the opening of the Avoriaz ski area and Neiltro TV was there with a Go-Pro and some mates. What more do you need?
Perfect conditions greeted us on the hill today. Deep fresh snow in the off piste that let you glide like a ninja; silent, stealthy and perfectly groomed grippy pistes that creaked and squeaked like a frightened squirrel. After two weeks of almost continuous snowfall the skies finally cleared in earnest and we had bluebird conditions with perfect snow. The good news is the next five days are set to be the same: PERFECT!
Friday the 13th hasn't been unlucky here, in fact the whole week has been awesome. Clear skies and cold temperatures have kept last week's snow in good condition and everyone seems to have left the Portes du Soleil meaning that the pistes are quiet and there are no queues for the lifts.
Lots of sunshine and cool to mild temperatures have brought some great sking and snowboarding to the Portes Du Soleil. Kelsey reports from Avoriaz and lets us in on the Burton Stash, the must-do run for all freestyle snowboarders and skiers this season.
The opening weekend for Avoriaz was absolutely rocking with free board tests, live music and monster parties and here is the proof!
WOW!! After almost two weeks of clear skies and cold temperatures the snow returns and with vengeance!!! We have seen so much more snow than was expected and it has been light, dry and soft.
The second of Shreddie's Feature Jams took place in the Arare Park on the kinked pipe and the hip. Prizes were awarded for best trick on each feature and best slam. Wanna feature in the next video? Stewart Monk from Reelfun Media who filmed this little nugget of slopestyle genius will be at the Super Pipe comp on 24th March.
It has been hot and sunny all week in the Portes du Soleil and as a result we have lost twenty centimetres of snow at 1800m. Don't worry though we still have over 200cm and there is some more on the way.
Today was amazing. Deep, light snow that was knee deep and only a few people on the mountain. We rode fresh snow most of the morning and when we left the hill the snow was coming down harder than ever. It's going to be a great week.
We're over in Crozet where depite the surroundings looking pretty shabby the pistes are holding up well and the best riding is in the parks.
What a great start to February. After Tuesday's big snowfall the temperatures dropped and, despite the forecast predicting quite overcast conditions, the skies cleared and gave us some of the best conditions I have ever seen in the Portes du Soleil.
Everyone had a good day on the 1st February with clear skies and fresh snow. Here's what the lovely folks at Treeline Chalets got up to.
The Swill Posse took home another win in this years Cavern 24/7 video competition. Here's why:
We have had sunshine all week in the Portes du Soliel but the snow clouds are back and we have almost half a metre forecast over the next 18 hours. Hopefully by Saturday morning we'll have snow all the way down in Morzine town and plenty of fresh powder on the hill.
After all the snow that came down at the beginning of the week we have been enjoying some near perfect conditions here in the Portes du Soleil. There will be a proper Video Snow Report on Thursday but I had such a great morning I thought I'd share it with you.

This week Kelsey reports from the top of the Pleney Gondola, above Morzine. You can see the resort of Les Gets in the background, which is linked to Morzine and a great place to explore.
We've had almost non-stop snow for the last two weeks but the forecasters are predicting clear skies and sunshine for the weekend and the beginning of next week. Conditions will be great as we still have huge amounts of snow and once the sun comes out the skiing is only going to get better.
We have had a great week here in the Portes d Soleil, one of the best, with powder, kickers and great pistes.
Although we are in the busiest period of the season the slopes are not too busy. They are however quite slow and slushy down low. The higher slopes, especially the shaded ones, have still got winter snow on them but the lower ones are very spring like.
It's been a great day here in Avoriaz. Fresh snow, clear skies and an afternoon throwing ourselves around in Le Fornet. The piste and off piste are excellent here with firm fresh snow on the groomed runs and soft powder in the back country.
The sun is shining the pistes are well covered in firm, grippy snow and the whole area is up and running. Skiing and boarding conditions in the Portes du Soleil are perfect AND we have fifty centimetres of new snow coming in this Friday. It looks like 2012 is going to start well.
A friend helped me with this weeks video and for most of the day I felt like Tom Cruise in Minority Report. Computer giggery-pokery aside, we still have great snow depths, the sun has been shining all week, Basscamp festival is just around the corner AND we have the Volcom Stone Peanut Butter and Rail Jam this weekend.
The crozets park is up and running! Traditionally the biggest and most technical of the parks in the Portes du Soleil this is where freestylers come to cut their teeth.
It has been a cloudy week with quite a lot of rain here in the Portes du Soleil and although this has washed some of the snow away we still have complete home runs and more snow than we had at any point last season. The sun will return on Friday and for the beginning of next week.
The last time the sun shone was on Sunday. Since then it has not stopped snowing and if you like your powder deep, light and everywhere then you are in luck. The tree skiing is epic at the moment and although the piste skiing is a little on the grey side there is more sun coming towards the end of the week and next week should be brilliant.
What a great week! 2012 has started well with some great snow on and off piste clear skies and the promise of more snow.
A short film from Morzine just a few days before the lifts open. We have had snow falling since the weekend and the opening should be EPIC this Saturday. I'll let you know on Sunday how we got on.
In the week before the busy period of the season starts the pistes have been empty and in excellent condition. Over in La Tour we've had some great skiing and with more cold weather and clear skies on the way it looks like we have more on the horizon.
It's the last few days of the busy holiday period here in the Portes du Soleil. Soon we'll be back to quiet pistes, short lift lines and smooth runs. The forecast is for great weather over the next week, we have good snow coverage and plenty to look forward to. Roll on my favourite part of the season.
Happy Easter to you all from the Portese du Soleil.

The temperatures have been very low but that has given us a good solid base for any new snow falls, like the one forecast this weekend.
It's been a week of mixed weather here in Morzine and Avoriaz. Clear skies and sunshine have been punctuated with rain which has melted a lot of snow on the lower runs.
Although the lifts close next weekend there is still plenty going on in Morzine and Avoriaz. We've got the Nyon fun run this weekend and the Mont Blanc Rally in two weeks time.
The temperatures have dropped. Although the sun is still shining the lower temperatures have frozen what was becoming a very slushy snow pack so the pistes are looking like they might have been saved from the warm Spring sunshine.
As August comes to the end the really hot weather comes out. It has been a "scorcher" this week and hopefully there is more to come.
The weather has turned a little here in the Portes du Soleil and where last week we needed to cool off now it's staying dry that's the problem.

The drop in temperatures and mild snow fall at the end of last week has made the pistes in the Portes du Soleil much, much better.
The Tour de France arrives in Morzine and Avoriaz this weekend and rather than just stand at the side of the road and cheer I thought I'd get involved a little bit more pro actively.
Torrential rain ruined most of the great snow that we had at the end of last week and we have only been saved from grass green slopes by the fact that last week there was so much snow.
We have a mix of clear blue skies and low light this week. The mornings have been better than the afternoons but the snow is consistently great especially as the resort is so quiet.
The weather has been beautiful for the last couple of days and the pistes are in very good condition. Off piste there is still plenty of fresh from last weeks dump but you'll have to hike for it.
Although it's been busy the fresh snow and clear skies have made this one of the best weeks of the season. We're looking forward to the Peanut Butter and Rail Jam this Sunday and sunny weather for the next few days.

We've had a good dump of snow this week and the conditions on and off piste have improved greatly. The weather is going to stay clear and sunny but the freezing level is going to stay high so we'll probably have Spring time conditions for a few days.
We still have heaps of snow and when the sun has been out this week conditions have been great. The forecast is for clouds, low temperatures and more snow so at this rate we'll still be skiing when they reopen the lifts for "summer".
Rain in Morzine has kept me off the hill today but the meteo predicts that we are going to have six inches of snow today with light showers to follow.
It has been a beautiful week so far in the Portes du Soleil and today to enjoy the sunshine I headed up the Pleney.
The recent warm temperatures have turned the majority of slopes into slushy, muddy, messes! Never fear, as there is 12-20cms forecast tonight and tomorrow!
The half term week is coming to and end and it has been a week of mixed weather and snow conditions. More snow this weekend should help top up the pistes which have taken a bit of a pounding this week as hundreds of tourists rode over them and temperatures rose.

We have had it all this week; sunshine and lightning, clear skies and thunder but the forecast for the weekend is good and with a Strongman competitionin in Avoriaz and plenty of walking and cycling available you are sure to have a great week in the Portes du Soleil.
This week concludes the video snow reports from the Portes Du Soleil region. The end of season conditions are fantastic but all good things must come to an end. The last day of skiing is this Sunday, the 27th of April. See you next winter!

The slopes are all open, and all good. Although the temperature has risen the snow is in good condition on piste. The off-piste is not as good as it was but....Santa's coming!!!

Although the weather down in Morzine has been, frankly, rubbish it turns out the snow fall up high has been fantastic. There is plenty of the fresh, fluffy stuff around and although it is a little heavy in some areas it is light powder if you head over to Switzerland.

We had quite a heavy snowfall yesterday and although the forecast was for more snow today the skies did their best to clear. On the hill the early winter’s snowfall is evident and all the pistes are in excellent condition and much of the off piste areas are still untouched with lashings of the soft stuff.
The sun continues to shine on the Portes du Soleil and as a result some of the slopes are suffering, becoming quite slushy and chopped up. I actually quite like spring slopes, I'm just not ready for them yet. Luckily the temperatures are set to drop and the forecast is for a little more snow over the weekend.
The weather all week has been sunny and getting warmer. The pistes are now softening nicely and the snow in some places feels like it is freshly dropped.
